The Tonyrefail Mari Lwyd was after fifteen or more years of discussions between friends finally reintroduced in December 2025 when ‘Alice’ was unleashed on the (very) unsuspecting public at a Tonyrefail Christmas event.
Her reception on that evening and a couple of other outings that month where very warmly received and the feedback was highly positive, so much so that plans to expand on the hopes and dreams of the two friends who brought her back, including remaking a new and improved Mari where quickly drawn together, we are hoping to bring a group of like minded friends together who can form a Mari Lwyd group and between us promote and expand the Mari Lwyd in Tonyrefail and hopefully help those further afield who want a Mari at their event.
We are in the process of sorting a date and booking a venue, we hope Ar Ben Y Byd Cafe in Mill Street as its fairly central and easy to get to. more information will be posted here and on our Facebook page
